Sometimes it seems the world of appliances has no room for smaller households, the mantra seems to be "the bigger the better." However, in this case there is an exception. The Zojirushi 3 cup rice cooker makes the ideal amount of perfectly steamed, plump and tender rice for small families, or even singles (after all you can always warm up the leftovers). The non-stick removable pan is easy to clean and a glass-lid lets you keep an eye on the progress.
- Cooks rice and keeps it warm up to five hours
- Use also to boil vegetables
- Measuring cup and serving spatula included
- Uses 300 watts of power
- 7-1/4 inches high to lid knob; 9-1/4 inches in diameter, including handles

If you love rice you will love this cooker. My son and I use this cooker almost daily to make fresh wonderful sticky rice. It is so easy to use and easy to clean and makes consistantly excellent rice every time.

I really love this rice cooker. It is easy to use and clean up and consistantly makes the rice sticky and fresh. The best way to take care of this rice cooker is to always wipe the rice pots base before you put it in the cooker to prevent the popping and sizzling noise. That would also prevent the brown burn marks.
And for consitantly sticky rice, I always wash the rice three times in cool water before adding bottled water to cook.

Perfect rice every time. Even brown rice cooks great.
A little hint, when you put the water in the dry rice before hitting the COOK button make a little depression like a crater in the center of the rice bed. It promotes the circulation of the heat and cooks more evenly.
This worls wonderfully with Japanese style rice such as Kokuho Rose or Nishiki. It comes out nice and fluffy.Look down at the bed when the thing dinks done and look at the perfection below.
Enjoy. This is a terrific cooker

I am totally thrilled. For breakfast every morning I cook Old-Fashioned oatmeal with apple and cinnamon in it and for dinner rice with spices, veggies, shrimp or fish and have a meal in a pot. I highly recommend The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook by Beth Hensperger and Julie Kaufman which has amazing recipes. The pan inside has very slippery non-stick coating which I carefully wash by hand. I rinse my rice first which is how you prevent the spitting that some people report. You MUST wash the rice to get the starch off. Cooks brown and mixed brown and wild rice wonderfully. Great for 1 or 2 people.

This is the 3rd rice cooker I have purchased and by far the best. We are only two people who enjoy rice, not an army, so this little devil does the job.

after owning several salton 3cup rice makers that died (see reviews on them – a lemon model), i decided to try this rice maker. this is a simple design that works just fine. i normally cook rice that i eat over a day or so, then scoop portions out for different meals. as such, a “keep warm” feature is not desired by me (this has no keep warm feature). the lack of an off switch is not a problem – the thing turns itself off when done, and i tend to store it unplugged anyway. the pot is the same size as the 3 cup salton, so my old pots will work if this pot is in dishwasher. this does spit a little from the steam hole, so i aim it at the sink – not really a problem. there are many fancier models which i don’t need, and some cheaper brands which i have several dead examples. i don’t know how long this may last, but i hope it lasts longer than the saltons! if you want a keep-warm feature or some fancy electronics, or the cheapest 3cup model, this isn’t for you; if you want something that just does what it is supposed to do, i’d suggest considering this cooker.

This is a great little rice cooker. Makes 2 cups with ease. Fast cook, and the pot cleans real easy. Use the included cup, and use the measurements on the side of the pan to fill with water. The rice will come out perfect every time.
Some things to consider.
1. If you have a family or cook more than 2-3 cups of rice, this is not the cooker for you.
2. Water will shoot out of the steam hole and go onto the counter. Nothing major though.

This is the third and best rice cooker that I’ve owned. All my rice cookers have been of this same general type — a simple boiler pot rather than a sophisticated fuzzy logic appliance. The other two were a Rival whose non-stick surface quickly deteriorated and a Panasonic that worked adequately but was not as sturdy as this Zojirushi. I regularly make brown rice, wild rice, and steel-cut oats in this cooker and am always satisfied. It does the job quickly and well. I did have to experiment a few times to get the right amount of water for the cooked rice texture that I prefer (slightly chewy). This cooker does sputter somewhat, as do all similar cookers, but I control that by 1) always rinsing the grain, 2) adding 1 teaspoon of oil or butter per cup of grain, and 3) not cooking more than 2 cups (rice cooker cups, that is) of grain at a time. And if it sputters, so what? It’s easily wiped off the counter. I don’t have a problem with the fact that there’s no keep-warm function, since with a pot this small a warmer would increase the likelihood of scorching. As it is, the rice will get overly brown on the bottom if not stirred up as soon as the cooker switches off. The only complaint I have with this machine is that the measurement markings on the inside of the pot are very difficult to read. But overall, I’m quite happy with it. It doesn’t have much in the way of features, but it makes cooking whole grains a breeze.

This is a great product. The rice cooks up perfectly every time. It is a snap to clean, also.
